I've heard of the first but not the second. My librarian read it to me as a kid.
I have a book I'm trying to find of my own. I haven't read it in years. It's about a boy who has a special power. When the other kids in the story are playing a game, he can turn them into ice, and they can't unfreeze until the game is over. But the boy is ridiculed, and at the end of the book he turns everyone to ice and leaves them like that. Anyone heard of it? I know it's not much to go on, but it's all I remember.
